Attendance

Why Attendance Matters

Regular attendance ensures students:

  • receive high quality teaching every day
  • enjoy friendships, belonging and community
  • develop their character and wellbeing
  • avoid missing vital learning
  • achieve their best in every subject

Aspire to be the best person God created us to be

We expect every student to attend school regularly and punctually because each day of learning helps them progress towards their full potential. Consistent attendance ensures children can enjoy learning, make progress, and take hold of every opportunity available to them.

Act with love, kindness and compassion

We work in partnership with families to remove barriers to attendance. Our priority is always to work with families to overcome obstacles and help students return to full attendance. When a child is struggling, we respond with understanding and support-listening carefully, offering Early Help where needed, and working compassionately with parents, carers and external agencies.

Celebrate one another’s strength and grow in faith together

Attendance is a shared responsibility. Staff, students, and families work together so that every child feels safe, encouraged and supported to be in school every day. We celebrate improvements, recognise success, and build a culture where students lift one another up.

Even small dips in attendance have a big impact. For example, 90% attendance = 19 days of learning lost, which is equivalent to 120 missed lessons
